Walking in Ragunda
Hiking in Ragunda Valley
From Hammarstrands camping you can take a lovely walk with your dog, alone or with a friend. You can walk along the river or just do some shopping in the village. All routes are written out. For some routes you have to drive a short distance, but we have also thought of that. You can drive there by means of a bullet arrow or with the Wikiloc app, it couldn't be easier. We have set out various walks and car rides for you, ask at the reception about the possibilities.
Directly from the campsite you can go for a nice walk, we have marked out routes, they are marked with colors, you can also walk them with your mobile phone / GPS. Click on the Wikiloc logo for the site with GPS routes.
The real sports enthusiasts can walk to the top of Kullstabacken. The ski slope is about 1.5 hours there and 1 hour back, but then there is a very nice view at the top as a reward, there is also a shelter, you can also make a fire, pay attention if you leave the fire is really out .Je can also drive up by car and then go for a walk.
For people who want to drive a bit, there are routes to beautiful places in Ragunda where you can walk. We have plotted the route by means of a dotted arrow.
Just before the town of Ragunda is a nice walk in the winter you can cross-country ski here and in the summer you can walk. Park the car at the old army barns and walk a little further and you will arrive at the start of the skidspåret and enjoy the peace and quiet.
The old church in Pålgård is also a nice walk.
The goat cave
10 minutes by car and you are at the parking lot of Getgrottan de goat cave just past the town of Ragunda. From the car park it is a 10 minute walk to the goat cave, but be aware it is not all fall and it is in the woods so it can be humid. But bring some sausages and sandwiches and feel free to make a fire. It's so quiet here.
Meå fallet
My favorite for a lovely walk with the dog. Meå Fallet. Meå Fallet is another waterfall that works, we also have Döda fallet that no longer works. But Meå  fallet is really fooling you. You arrive by car and drive a short distance into the path, be aware the path is very bumpy. Then it is almost 3 KM walk along the Indalsläven and luckily all flat, if you don't join too much you might see the beaver, otherwise you will see his work. There are beautiful rest spots along the river. Beware Meå fallet is fooling you, you will come across a waterfall approximately after 2900 meters that is not the waterfall we are looking for walk a little further and go at the sign the forest is, note it is no longer flat here and we are in the woods so it can be slippery.
A little further ahead on the long path is an old border stone (border stone)
Döda fallet
We already talked about it Döda Fallet (The Dead Waterfall) 15 minutes by car from Hammarstrands camping. Here you can walk over the waterfall. They have built beautiful wooden bridges, enough places to sit and rest and enjoy the beautiful nature around you. Tip don't just walk on the wooden bridges but also go to the river in the forest, it is beautiful here.
Högforssen
Högforssen is a 10-minute drive away, this is a beautiful area for walking in the middle of the forest, very well signposted, something goes up and down when you're quiet, you see the beaver, you come to a waterfall that still generates power, everything here is made of wood . We were lucky enough to meet Santa Claus a few times. In winter it is excellent here for cross-country skiing. GPS 63.163011, 16.304742 Â
The suspension bridge
The Hängbron or in Englisch the suspension bridge. This is made of wood and runs over the Indalsälven. You can get there in two ways both the walks are beautiful it goes up and down a bit but that is almost everywhere in and around Ragunda. Don't forget the sausages for the campfire. A voluntary contribution is requested for the maintenance of the bridge is not mandatory but it is allowed. This is one of my favorite places.
Billtjärns nature reserve
Just past Bispgården on the 87 you take a forest road on this you follow 8 KM and then you come to Åsbodarna. Billtjärns nature reserve there are signs that you can follow. You will not meet a person here, only birds that whistle all day and night. The birds are not shy they come to you and are very curious. There are many pine trees with a lot of beard moss, this beard moss indicates how pure the air is in this area, the more beard moss the purer the air. There is no forestry here this is a natural forest there have been many forest fires over the years which can also be seen in the bark on the trees. You can encounter all kinds of animals here so be quiet but be on your guard.
The reward is a magnificent view.
Vättaberget or the sleeping elephant
Called Vättaberget or the sleeping elephant. It is a brisk walk 10 minutes from the campsite. It is uphill and there is a geocache trail of 16 geocaches that you must have walked. When you get to the top, the view is amazing, don't forget to bring food and drinks. Highly recommended.
The Hammarstrand sign
To the letters of Hammarstrand (Hollywood) you drive or walk to the top of the ski slope there you follow the blue route. If you want to return the same way because your car is above, take the same way back from the letters. Otherwise, continue on your way and you will arrive in Kulsta from a beautiful descent.

AlbackenÂ
From Hammarstrands camping it is an hour's drive to Albacken you drive wonderfully in the woods and enjoy all the nature around you and of course you have to watch out for the moose that you come across Albacken is a small town stop just before or after the bridge and parking the car on the bridge makes the most beautiful pictures. It is a small place on the river Givan. Park the car and enjoy the walk
KulTurStig
In the beautiful village of Pålgård there is a nice walk to walk. Park your car at the Kert and follow the signs with the letter K. You will pass the most beautiful places, churches, old markets, schools, nature. Sometimes there is an apperraat that you can turn and that tells something about the place where you are. Be quiet when you walk through the meadow on the road because there are many deer and elk.
X Rundan
Now we start with combined physical and digital tip rounds, x-rounds, in the Hammarstrand area.
You can find a round using the x-round app, which you can download for free to a smartphone. Follow the map, when you see a QR code, scan it, you will receive a question and answer directly on the phone. New questions are posted every Sunday. Questions are available for both children and adults. If you don't have a smartphone, invite a friend, child or adult who has it on a walk together! You're going up against yourself or your walking company.
As the first in Jämtland County, the Ragunda hometown association has taken the initiative to encourage young and old to easily get out and move together. It is free for everyone to participate thanks to the fact that we have registered and receive support through the capillaries of Culture and the municipality of Ragunda. The aim is to develop activities during the pandemic while creating a range of free activities for children. In implementation we work together with village associations in the villages.
In the vicinity of Hammarstrand there are four different rounds that transfer to other villages after a few months. The residence associations in Fors and Stugun also have a round.
