Bobsleigh and luge track
Bobsleigh and luge track in Hammarstrand
The Hammarstrand toboggan run is Scandinavia's only art track. The track, built in 1964, was 1045 meters long with 11 turns and a take-off height of 900 meters.
Numerous major track driving championships have been organized, such as the World Championship which was held in 3 x in Hammarstrand until 1981, European Championships, World Cup in 1989, Youth Championships and the Swedish championships. The last World Cup luge competition was held in 1990. Until the completion of the bobsleigh and luge track used for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer in 1992, it was the only track of its kind in Scandinavia. The track was the last natural track where the FIL European Luge Championships and FIL World Luge Championships were held.
The Swedish Bobsleigh and Luge Association are now doing everything they can to restore the track to its former glory and want to train here and who knows in the future there will be World Championships, European Championships, World Cups again.
It is possible to make a run yourself in a bobsleigh or with a snow racer, this is really great to do.
