Villa Kånkback is a rural house for up to five guests on the edge of Hammarstrand, in the Ragunda Valley. It sits about 800 metres from the village, with open views over fields, forest edges and distant mountains. You stay close to shops, restaurants and daily services, while still feeling surrounded by nature. It’s quiet here, but not remote.
A farmhouse kitchen made for daily life
The kitchen is the heart of Villa Kånkback. With its traditional style, old kitchen bench and large dining table for up to ten people, it has the feeling of a proper farmhouse kitchen. This is where people cook, eat and spend time together. Children can sit at the table drawing, others have a drink, while meals are prepared. It’s a lived-in space, made for real use rather than just appearance. From the kitchen, you look out over fields and farmland towards the valley, making it the natural place to gather.
Living space with character
The house has a separate living room with TV and WiFi, practical for both short stays and longer periods. A piano stands in the room. It is no longer in tune and not used, but it has remained as part of the house and adds to the feeling of a real home with history.
Bedrooms and bathroom
Villa Kånkback has three bedrooms with five single beds in total. This works well for families, small groups, or guests staying for a longer period. The bathroom includes a shower, sink and toilet.
Rural setting with farm life nearby
Villa Kånkback sits about 150 metres from Rögrinna Gård, a small-scale organic farm with horses and farmland nearby. You may hear horses in the distance or see a tractor now and then, giving the house a quiet rural feel without being far from village life.
Views over Ragunda Valley
From the house and terrace, you look out over fields, meadows, farmland, horses and forest, with the mountains of the Ragunda Valley in the background. The landscape is open and varied, with changing light throughout the day and seasons.
Close to Hammarstrand
Hammarstrand is within easy reach, around a 10-minute walk. The village has two well-stocked supermarkets, local restaurants, a bakery, cinema, petrol station and essential services. The sandy riverbank along the Indalsälven river is about a 10-minute walk from the house, a quiet place to sit, walk or spend time by the water.
Things to do nearby
The area offers hiking, fishing, cycling and access to forests, lakes and river spots. In winter, there is skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobile tours, ice fishing, dog sledding and snowshoe walks. On clear nights, the Northern Lights can be visible. In summer, Döda fallet is a well-known natural site in the region, along with lakes and forest areas for swimming, fishing and walking.
Long stay
Villa Kånkback is suitable for both shorter visits and long stays of 3 months or more. The large kitchen, practical layout and location close to Hammarstrand make it easy to use the house as a real base, not just a place to sleep. For longer stays, it works well for guests coming to Ragunda for work, relocation, family time or a slower period in Sweden. You have the quiet of the countryside, while shops, restaurants and services are still within 1 km.
