Stuguns gamla kyrka, Stugun´s Old Church

Already during the 11th century simple lodgings (Swedish själastugor, sæluhus) without any service at all had been put up along routes, especially pilgrim routes.
In 1290 the Archbishop of Uppsala bought land at Indalsälven, Ragunda, and built a sæluhus, a "soul house," a shelter for pilgrims on the the medieval route between Uppsala and the Nidaros Cathedral in current Trondheim.

The church and the wooden bell tower were built in the 18th century by Påhl Persson.
